In 2011, the CUNY Board of Trustees instituted a 5-year “Rational Tuition Increase” plan that would raise tuition by over 30%, or roughly $300 per year through Spring 2016. Now, with the end of the program in sight, talks of an extension have already begun. As your student government, we believe Baruch students should be fully aware of what is going on at the University level especially when it comes to tuition. It is our job to hear out all views of an issue and act in a way that is beneficial to the students of Baruch. We have set up a few events in order to make sure every student has a chance to express their opinion on the topic.
This Tuesday, October 13th at 5:30 in room 3-270, we had members of the University Student Senate and a member of the CUNY Board of Trustees to present both sides of the “Rational Tuition Increase” argument. Following their presentation, we had a brief question and answer period.
On Mondays from 11AM-12PM, three USG senators will be hosting their weekly show “The USG Report” on WBMB Baruch College Radio. You can tune in at 94.3 or www.wbmbbiz.com, or call them at (646)-312-4726 and they will answer any questions you have on the subject.
Please make sure your voice is heard on this issue!
